His performance and recording credits alone sprawl from jazz (Juno winners <strong>Altered Laws<\/strong>), fusion (<strong>New Noakes Quartet, Crash<\/strong>), rap (<strong>Sweatshop Union<\/strong>), operatic pop (<strong>The Tenors<\/strong>), country (<strong>k.d. lang<\/strong>), variety (<strong>Bob Hope, Leon Bibb, Pat Boone)<\/strong>, &#8220;pops&#8221; (<strong>Vancouver Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>), klezmer (<strong>Olam<\/strong>), \u201cBuddha Bar\u201d lounge\/chillout (<strong>Astrid<\/strong>), Afro-Cuban (World Music Award winner\u00a0<strong>Gabriel Palatchi Trio, <\/strong>the<strong> Fito Garcia Bass Ensemble<\/strong>), Balkan\/Flamenco (<strong>Tambura Rasa,\u00a0<\/strong>featuring\u00a0the <strong>Black Dog String Quartet<\/strong>) funk, R&amp;B, reggae, Brazilian, musical theatre and much more.<\/p>\n<p>Kerry also leads <strong>Steelin&#8217; in The Years<\/strong>, a loving tribute to the music of Steely Dan.<\/p>\n<h2>the other side of the glass<\/h2>\n<p>Kerry\u2019s eclectic production work has ranged from acoustic folk (<b>Michael Friedman, <\/b><em>Random Acts Of Tuning<\/em>, 2016) to the electronic lounge\/chillout of <strong>Astrid<\/strong> (<em>Red Umbrella<\/em> 2005 and\u00a0<em>Full Life<\/em> 2012<em>)<\/em>\u00a0and R&amp;B\/jazz with <strong>Steve Hilliam<\/strong> (<em>Inside The Lines,<\/em> 2008). His work for film and TV has included music editing for the <strong>Cartoon Network\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Ed, Edd and Eddy,<\/em> and <em>Dead Heat <\/em>with Kiefer Sutherland; \u00a0his \u201cmiscellaneous musical duties\u201d have even included the creation of charts and transcriptions for <strong>Randy Bachman\u2019s<\/strong> DVD\/book release <em>Every Song Tells A Story<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>as educator<\/h2>\n<p>Kerry&#8217;s love for teaching began nearly forty years ago as he rose from private bass instructor at a local music store to being asked to teach Electric Bass at <strong>Capilano College <\/strong>(now <strong>Capilano University). <\/strong>There, he would create Cap&#8217;s first jury criteria for B.Mus in Bass Performance (&#8217;92). His private bass students have themselves gone on to become the respected practitioners and educators of the next generation. While covering a colleague&#8217;s class, Kerry discovered a love for classroom teaching, and since then he has taught numerous post-secondary courses on musical topics such as Music Theory, Theory of Record Production and Electronic Music, as well as specialized courses in software platforms like <strong>Ableton Live<\/strong>, <strong>Reason<\/strong>, <strong>Reaper<\/strong>, <strong>Logic<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Sibelius.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Along with bassists <strong>Laurence Mollerup<\/strong>, <strong>Chris Tarry<\/strong> and <strong>Andre Lachance<\/strong>, he helped co-found the <strong>Vancouver Bass Conference<\/strong> (a 3 day &#8220;bass boot camp\u201d).
